Ladies and gentlemen, our host today is Maud Nale. Maud is a corporate communications professional and a Registered Public Relations Practitioner, with nearly two decades of experience helping organisations across Africa speak with clarity, in English and in French. She has hosted conferences and mayoral dinners, reported live from an international convention of more than two thousand delegates, and interviewed senior leaders on camera. Full biography

Maud Nale is a corporate communications professional and a Registered Public Relations Practitioner (PRP) with the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa. For nearly two decades she has helped organisations speak with clarity in public, working in English and French across pan-African and multinational environments.

Her experience spans reputation management and crisis communications, executive media preparation, launch publicity and communications strategy for programmes operating across the continent. She has served as a spokesperson, led communications in two languages and, with her team, built an award-winning public relations development programme.

On stage, Maud hosts conferences, moderates panels and interviews senior leaders. She has emceed the National Space Conference, reported live from the Toastmasters International 100-Year Anniversary Convention for more than 2,000 delegates, and hosted weekly live interviews with executive leaders.

Bavarde, French for chatterbox and her childhood nickname, is her professional practice.

Before the event

  1. Event name, date, venue, and start and finish times
  2. Audience size, seniority and language mix: English, French or both
  3. Objectives and key messages for the programme
  4. Run of show with timings, shared as early as possible
  5. Speaker and panellist names, titles and pronunciations
  6. Production and AV contact for the day
  7. Dress code or event theme
  8. Any sensitivities, embargoes or media present on the day

On the day

  • A wireless handheld microphone, with a spare, and a lapel microphone for hybrid or roaming formats
  • A visible countdown clock or confidence monitor showing the run of show
  • A technical check with the production team before doors open
  • A host position or lectern lit from the front, and clear cues from the floor manager
  • For hybrid events, a view of online questions and a named contact for the stream
  • For bilingual programmes, confirmation of which sessions run in English, French or both, and whether interpretation is provided
  • A quiet space to prepare before the programme, with water
  • The final run of show, script and pronunciations at least 48 hours before the event
